ARTISTIC BIO

The first son of second-generation Italian/Jewish-American parents, Leonardo traces he creative beginnings to his childhood when his father gave him his first “lessons” on drawing.

Currently Leonardo not only continues to draw but has-over the years added several other disciplines to his creative pallet:  photography, painting, sculptures, literature, acting, comedy and most recently, singing.

For the majority of his creative life, photography dominated; from models to athletes, actors, city and Long Island “scapes,” his images, including his B&W Fine Art- figure work has  exhibited and sold across the country, been published, won competitions, and grace the walls of private owners, corporations, small business and the NBA Hall of Fame.

Leonardo has lectured and taught B&W photography and filmmaking at the high school and college level.

Additionally, Leonardo studied film/TV production at the School of Visual Arts (SVA) then spent six years working behind and in front of Hollywood cameras and several back on Long Island writing, producing and directing his projects.

Other than three photography classes, one and half years at SVA and one drawing class, Leonardo has spent thousands of hours of “self-learning” studying the works of such Luminaries as Ansel Adams, Herb Ritts, Helmut Newton, Dorothea Lange, Lucien Clergue, his name sake-DaVinci, Michelangelo, Caravaggio, Van Gogh, JL David, Monet, Serrate, Picasso, Dali, Remington, John Ford, John Houston, William Wyler, Billy Wilder, Elia Kazan,  Frances Ford Coppola,  Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, and Quinton Tarantino-to name a few.

In addition to the above; Leonardo calls Charles Bukowski his favorite poet, Mother Nature his favorite visual artist, and has a hard time deciding between Billy Wilder, Martin Scorsese and Francis Coppola as his favorite filmmaker.
